The Center for Black Educator Development (CBED) was founded in 2019 to address and accelerate change in the educational ecosystem. Its mission to rebuild the national Black Teacher Pipeline to achieve educational equity and racial justice is achieved through the alignment of pathways into the profession, professional learning and public policies to ensure greater educator diversity, cultural responsiveness, and improved student outcomes for Black children.

The 9th Annual Black Men in Education Convening (#BMEC2026) is heading back to Philadelphia. Building on our success hosting the country's largest and most impactful gathering of Black male educators over the last eight years, we're proud to announce the planning for #BMEC2026 is well underway. #BMEC2026 is shaping up to be a transformative event, featuring dynamic speakers, interactive workshops, opportunities for professional growth and, as always, the ability to build friendships and community while fostering mentorship and strengthening networks. We can't wait to see you there - where together, we will continue our work advancing educational equity and strengthening the Black Teacher Pipeline.
